King Solomon was one of the wisest men to ever walk the earth because he asked God for wisdom not material wealth. Through the knowledge that God bestowed on him he was able to gain things such as riches and power. In his meditations he discovered that the tongue holds incredible power over shaping your life, he elaborates here saying:
“From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings them reward.” –Proverbs 12:14
We too must realize the power of our words over our own lives and that we have the power to control how we use them. We must pay special attention to this when we are angry or frustrated because that is when our flesh takes over and we begin to say things that are less than positive that may degrade someone else. Do your best to discipline yourself to recognize when you are feeling that way and take a moment to center yourself and be wise with your words.
Many successful and joyful people have mastered the ability to speak positive things over their lives even during times of struggle or trial. They know the calling God has on their lives and have the faith not to let anything come in the way of the destiny He has lain out for them. Those who speak wisely reap a good harvest from their words just as farmers enjoy the harvest of their crops. If you use your words to speak life and love into the lives of those around you you will have a heightened sense of purpose and fulfillment. Every conversation you have with someone else is an opportunity to build them up or tear them down, remember that when you are choosing your next sentence.
If you are struggling with speaking good things over your life or find yourself less than encouraging when talking with others the best thing you can do is bring it to God. Continue to pray that he gives you the words to speak and to help break negativity off of you. After all James 1:5 states:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. “
The most important piece of information I can give you to take away is to be intentional about being wise with your words and continue to work at it. You will be surprised at the fruits you will start to bear.
